As an avid foodie, there's nothing I love more than trying out a new restaurant in Dublin. When you're a full time student and live off a part time wage, however, eating out regularly can get expensive. I've put together five of my favourite restaurants in Dublin that serve delicious food and won't break the bank either. Whether you're looking for somewhere to go with your friends or on a date, I've got you covered! (PS- they're all worthy a try even if you're not a student too!)

Glasgow, Scotland

After waking up ridiculously early one Friday last month, I checked my emails (as usual) and the first thing I saw was an email from Ryanair- "€2 FLIGHTS". Feeling rather spontaneous, I gathered some of the girls together and after repeatedly trying to access the crashing website, seven of us managed to book return flights to Glasgow for 4 quid. Cheaper than a trip into Dublin city!

Because we were flying out early in the morning and flying home late that night, we wanted to fit as much sightseeing in as possible. Here's what we got up to!

Eclectic. No, Monday's outfit was more minimal. Monochrome? But you've 10 rainbow shirts hanging nicely in your wardrobe.

I applaud anyone that has the ability to answer this question, really I do. I, on the other hand, am not one of them. In fact I even find it difficult to describe my personal style in three words, or even five.

September is always one of the busiest months for me- not only because it means going back to college, but because of the numerous press events too. September is famously known as the start of the new fashion year and the Irish fashion industry celebrates that with Dublin Fashion Festival. Hosted by Dublin Town, DFF is a festival that I've been attending for about 3 years now and it's always an Autumn highlight for me. The festival launch occurred a few weeks ago (which I wrote about for Siopaella here) but the actual festival runs from September 5th-11th. Here's my top picks from this year's schedule- all open to the general public for free!

1.  First day off of the month led to a rare family outing to the seaside. And it wouldn't be a seaside visit without candy floss the size of your head!
2. I then travelled to my nana's house, who also happens to live beside the beach. It was so nice to catch up with her and extended family, while also getting another chance to take in the coastal air.
3. I finally got around to getting the chop- again! I've come to the realisation that I feel more "me" with short hair, and I went back to being darker this time too. Loving it!
4. The newly refurbished Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Temple Bar kindly invited us in work to a meal and to check out the new restaurant. Delicious as always, and the decor is so modern.

This post has been a long time coming. Over 6 months coming, to be precise. A combination of a loss for words, lack of time and a dodgy laptop has prevented me writing it in the past, but I feel it's time to address some things here on Oh Hey There Rachel.

You may have noticed that I've been fairly quiet on the blogging front for about a year now. I put it down to starting college and becoming employed but there has definitely been some other factors too. Even on social media, I'd stopped participating in blogger chats and my Instagram became more personal than blogging related. The only easy way to explain it all is that I fell out of love with blogging.

Liverpool, UK

After my original holiday fell through and with time already booked off work, myself and two of my besties decided to pop over to the UK for a small break away. Today's post is all about the 48 hours we spent in Liverpool, before we headed off to Manchester for a night. Liverpool is the perfect city for students- mostly because of how cheap it is! Our flights were €20 return with Ryanair and we stayed in a hotel called Days Inn, which was about £70 between us for the two nights. I thought I'd put together a little student friendly travel guide for anyone that's thinking of heading away this year for a quick city break!

I've had an iPhone 5s for over two years now and truth be told, I was fed up. My contract ended at the start of the year but I remained on the same plan I was on (which was way too much money for the few perks I recieved) because I didn't know what to do. Having grown up with iPods and iPads, I was used to the Apple life and nothing else. But working long hours and commuting for two hours every day meant that my life just didn't suit the short iPhone battery life. No matter how often I charged it, it would just die after a couple of hours.

So when Three got in touch and asked if I'd like to try out the spanking new HTC 10*, I jumped on the offer immediately.

Over the past couple of months I've become utterly obsessed with Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. I've had Edge Of Seventeen on repeat and been stalking pinterest for Stevie style inspiration. Flared jeans are something I've been wanting to try for a while now, and I've had this pair since last year, but my short little legs never really looked right in them. So, the DIY chick within me took a pair of scissors and cut the ends off- distressed denim is still a thing, right?

5 months of Summer holidays from uni. That's 5 months of Summer nights, and I plan on making the most of them. Even though Irish weather is always more on the dismal side, there's something about those Summer nights that I love. Nights spent among the best of people with great food and great drinks. With people that make me cry with laughter and wearing an outfit that makes me feel good inside. Those are the nights that make my Summer a memorable one.

I may be broken hearted and a little bit lost but I'm going to make this Summer a good one- I can feel it.

I've been a terrible blogger these past few months. Really, I have. Ever since starting university last September, my posts have becoming less frequent and my inspiration has been slowly diminishing. Now that Summer has arrived, I've been thinking a lot about what caused the creative block, and how I plan to overcome it.

Ever since bomber jackets made a return to the fashion world in Gucci's pre-fall 2016 collection last December, I've wanted to get my hands on a less extravagant & more wearable one to pair with everything this season. I still remember my first ever bomber jacket, back when I was just entering my teen years. It was one of those baseball varsity ones, and it made me feel like I was the epitome of cool. As I started exploring the world of crazy prints and bright colours, I discovered a printed butterfly one in Penneys for a mere €5 a few years later. I got a few wears out of it before it got lost in the depths of my wardrobe, but it's something I wear at least once a week to university now.

Let's face it- Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without books. I was always the type of child to ask for a long list of books for Christmas, and that didn't go away when I hit my teens. On the top of my list this year was a book I'd seen on Instagram time and time again. It was a book that I presumed to be a mere style bible, but I was oh so wrong. This book has become my 2016 bible, and each page contains a new mantra to follow as I stumble through my 18th year.

On Tuesday 8th March I woke up to my find my social media news feeds flooded with quotes and pictures of strong and inspirational women. Of course, I jumped on that bandwagon and posted a 'girlboss' image that had been doing the rounds on Instagram all day. Many online publications had written pieces on 'women we ought to know' (and I found a fair few people to follow on Twitter because of them).

Budapest, Hungary

I say this all the time, but I feel like every time I travel, I grow as a person. Back in January I headed to Budapest with a group of fellow photography lovers from college, and I came back feeling completely refreshed. Not only did I make a whole bunch of like-minded friends, but I fell in love with the city, too.

Long time no post, I know! I've been extremely busy over the past month between jetting off to Budapest and London, college, my job and various press launches. I headed over to London last Friday for London Fashion Week, which (as usual) left me feeling quite inspired. I have a lot of posts in mind for the next week or two, so hopefully that will get my creative streak back up and running!

I love coats. In fact, if I had to choose a favourite piece of clothing, I'd choose the winter coat. But the problem is, as soon as Winter comes around, I find it hard to commit to a new one. Not because of the price (although I'll admit that is a factor) but because there are so many different styles and colours to choose from. Will I go for a trusty cocoon one in dusty pink? Or stick with a monochrome palette this season?

Fashion is often seen as frivolous. A waste of time. Those interested in fashion are often seen as dim. But fashion is more than just something we throw on to cover our bodies with. It's more than people obsessing over labels. In my eyes, the fashion industry is much more than that (something I wrote a small personal piece about here). For many fashion is a form of expression and, not only that, but a community too. As Blair Waldorf famously said in Gossip Girl;

I'm not really one for resolutions. I've tried making them in the past, some I've stuck to, some not so much. Most of the time, I forget where I've even written them down.
I'm also not big into the idea of a 'new year, new me'. Although I agree that the start of a new year is a great time to refresh and clear some clutter from your life, I don't think it's necessary to completely wipe yourself clean and start a new persona over night. This year, I'm going to continue to develop as a person and to 'find myself' (cringe, but true).
