September is always one of the busiest months for me- not only because it means going back to college, but because of the numerous press events too. September is famously known as the start of the new fashion year and the Irish fashion industry celebrates that with Dublin Fashion Festival. Hosted by Dublin Town, DFF is a festival that I've been attending for about 3 years now and it's always an Autumn highlight for me. The festival launch occurred a few weeks ago (which I wrote about for Siopaella here) but the actual festival runs from September 5th-11th. Here's my top picks from this year's schedule- all open to the general public for free!
Fashion exhibition by photographer Emily Quinn
An exhibition by award winning fashion photographer Emily Quinn. The exhibition will run for the duration of the festival at Powerscourt Townhouse, one of the nicest little centres in Dublin city.
5th-11th September.
Cinema screening 'Bill Cunningham New York'
On Thursday the 8th Brooks Hotel will be screening one of my favourite fashion documentaries about the wonderful Bill Cunningham, a NY times photographer who basically invented street style. Served with a glass of prosecco and popcorn, this would be the perfect girls night out.
Thursday 8th September, 8pm, tickets €25.
Creative Quarter fashion show
The Creative Quarter fashion show is, without doubt, one of my favourites from the festival. Taking place on Friday 9th, the fashion show highlights and showcases what Dublin's Creative Quarter brings to the Irish fashion scene. Hosted by Darren Kennedy on the steps of Powerscourt Townhouse, this one is not to be missed!
Friday 9th September, 8pm.
Fall for fashion at the Jervis Street Shopping Centre
Irish beauty and fashion blogger Rosie Connolly will host free fashion workshops at Jervis to help you get ready for the Autumn/Winter fashion scene. This would be the perfect fashion fix to experience on your lunch break!
Saturday 10th September, 10.30am-5pm
