According to authors Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, that’s one of many descriptions of what an ‘Aisling’ is.
Described as a ‘small town girl living in a notions world’, Aisling is a heart-warming girl from the country that moves up to ‘the big smoke’. We all know one, whether from college or work or even one of your own friends. Based on the popular Facebook group with the same name, Oh My God What A Complete Aisling is akin to the Irish version of Bridget Jones.
She works a 9-5 job at PensionsPlus and goes out every Saturday at home with her best friend Majella, who’s lost more phones than she can count. It’s double vodkas and diet coke while she’s in the local at home, or a Coors Light in McGowans of Phibsboro if she stays up for the weekend.
After seeing all her friends and half the town of ‘Ballygobbard’ get engaged or married, Aisling has had enough. She’s been with her boyfriend John for as long as she can remember, and there’s no sign of a ring on the cards.
A trip to Tenerife with John turns out to be the holiday from hell, so she flees to Dublin in search of something to turn her life around.
All of a sudden, her life has turned upside down. She decides to move up to Dublin for good (“because that N7 would have your heart broken”) and finds herself living with Sadhbh from HR and her friend Elaine. Aisling is thrown into the deep end of oversized smock dresses and vegans, a world she’s never seen before.
She heads to Berlin with her new housemates, exploring underground bars and the life of hipsters. She couldn’t be further from Tuesdays at Coppers, but she gives it her all and embraces her newfound life.
The number one bestselling book isn’t just a humorous tale of Aisling’s trials and tribulations, but one that can only be described as wonderful and scarily relatable. A death in the family throws Aisling off course, and her broken heart is one she has trouble mending.
The Facebook group the book is based on has over 48,000 members to date. Since the book was released last August, the authors have signed a two-book deal to continue Aisling’s tale, showing that readers want more of Aisling’s life.
Breen and McLysaght are right- we all have an Aisling in our life. Maybe we’re the Aisling in our group. It’s a book that will have you rolling on the floor, but might make you shed a tear. Because while we’re laughing, we’re laughing with Aisling, not at her. She’s the kind of girl you wish you had as your best friend.

♥ Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette- One product I've been using religiously over the past few months in the renowned Naked palette. I know, I know- this palette is plastered over the majority of beauty blogs out there, which is why I've held off mentioning it for a while now! That said, it's definitely worth the hype in my eyes. I love using 'virgin' as a highlighter too.
♥ No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream- I'd been on the hunt for a new moisturiser for a while, and randomly decided to buy this pot of joy with a No7 voucher I had. I'm a big No7 fan- the products aren't too pricey, but work wonders for my skin. It's quite light but also leaves the skin slightly matte which is perfect for my combination skin.
♥ Oriflame Volume Blast mascara*- I was given this to try out at an event, so I've been testing it over the past month. In all honesty, I don't agree that it makes my lashes very voluminous at all- but it certainly lengthens them! I particularly like using this on my bottom lashes, because I like thick top lashes but spidery bottom ones.
♥ Catrice Smokey Eyes pencil- I've had this eyeliner for quite some time now, but I've only rediscovered my love for it this month! I really like the grunge-y, messy smokey eye trend that's been doing the works lately, and this pencil is perfectly smudgeable.

Hey everyone,
I haven't been wearing any photograph-worthy outfits lately so I thought I'd write a well deserved book review instead. This is going to be a review of a series so far, not simply just a one book review. Before I get started, can we all take a moment to appreciate how beautiful these book covers are?I think they're simply stunning, and some of the best I've seen in a while. Lets get started!
About the series;
The Shatter Me series consists of three books; Shatter Me, Unravel Me and the newly released finale- Ignite Me. There are two eBook novellas; Destroy Me and Fracture Me, which are now being published in paper together, in a book called Unite Me. Sound a tad confusing? I thought so too at first, but I took a plunge and purchased the first book before Christmas. They currently aren't available in Ireland, so I bought them on The Book Depository, which is such a great website for buying new and cheap books! The Shatter Me series is about a teenage girl called Juliette, who has a strange ability- she can kill people with the single touch of a finger. After being whisked off to an asylum for years, she then gets saved by the charming Adam, who takes her to a ruthless yet insanely attractive Warner. The story follows their adventures and Juliette's self discovery, whilst falling in love, and finding her purpose. The book is set in a futuristic world that has been almost destroyed by human activity.
My Opinion;
So far, I am loving this series and I can't wait to buy the third and final book! Taherah Mafi has such a unique way of writing, but I have a feeling you'll either love it or loathe it. Some words are crossed out, as forbidden thoughts perhaps inside Juliette's head. I personally thought the writing style was beautiful, and so different to what I'm used to reading. I liked the main character Juliette in Shatter Me, but in Unravel Me I just couldn't connect with her whatsoever. Her constant moaning put me off. Again, in Shatter Me I was definitely all for Adam and Juliette's relationship, but in Unravel Me my love the stronger for Warner- something that appears to cause a divide between fans of the series! I loved the plot of both books, particularly of the second one, but I can only hope that Ignite Me ends the series well and Juliette learns to cop on.
