Hey everyone,
Other than my friends, family and food, there is nothing I am more passionate about than fashion. I am hopelessly in love with it. My love affair with fashion started many years ago, I'll tell you that! As a child I loved dressing up in my mum's "grown up" clothes with my sister. We would organise fashion shows, and parade about the sitting room like princesses in our best finery.
As I grew older and the teenage years began, my infatuation with fashion intensified. After beginning to get fed up of my hobby as a dancer after 10 years, I was at a bit of a loose end. It was then that I started a blog on a whim. Ever since then, my personal style has grown- as has my knowledge of the fashion industry. When I first started blogging, I was a 14 year old girl that was still trying to find my own sense of style. I was tempted to wear the clothes that all my friends did, but when I did, I didn't feel like "me". That's the best thing about fashion- we all have our own unique sense of style. As Coco Chanel famously said, "fashion changes but style remains the same". Although trends come and go like seasons, our own identity and preferences remain. I now know that I wouldn't be "me" without the clothes that I wear.
Don't get me wrong- I may love fashion, but I'm not a slave to it. I don't participate in all the latest trends or 'fads' although I do take inspiration from them, and the world around me- whether its books, art or history. I also don't believe that you need to spend a lot of money to look good either. Its no lie that I'm a huge fan of vintage clothing and thrift shops. I love mixing vintage items with the high-street for a modern twist. That said, give me a pair of Louboutins any day and I wouldn't complain!
They say it's a great thing when a hobby turns into a job, and maybe I'm aiming too high, but that's what I'd love to do. I spend 90% of my time thinking about fashion, after all! On the streets, I'm wondering where strangers got their shoes. At home, I'm constantly thinking about what to wear next. Heck, even in school I'm lusting after some of the teachers handbags. I can't escape it!
Have you got a love affair with fashion too? Tell me where it all began in the comments below!

Hey everyone,
I've been starting to use (and love!) Pinterest a lot lately, and I deleted a lot of my old boards so I could start a fresh. Pinterest is perfect for gaining inspiration- hence the title of this new little segment here on my blog. Each 'pinspiration' post(that's Pinterest inspiration, fyi) shall have a different theme or colour scheme. This week, I've been loving floral, exotic editorials and bold prints. Think Dolce & Gabbana meets Club Tropicana.

Hey everyone,
Time for a new series here on the blog! Rather than doing a monthly favourites post which can get a bit repetitive, I've decided to start a new series called 'Lately I've Been..'- reading, loving or wearing something a lot lately, for example. I'm not sure how reoccurring it shall be but I'm sure you've noticed that my blog 'schedule' has been a bit all over the lazy lately. At the moment I just prefer posting when I have fresh inspiration, and time. Nobody likes a forced article, and posting just for the sake of posting isn't my thing at all! Anyways, let me know in the comments below what you think of this post. I'm always open to trying something different, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Lately I've Been...
•Reading: Tess Of d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. I love getting books for Christmas, and I was delighted to see a Classic in my stocking this year! I briefly mentioned to my mum that I wanted to start reading more pieces of classic literature, and she picked up one that I'd actually never heard of before. I'm only halfway through it (reading old pieces of writing whilst preparing for exams= a slower reading pace than usual..) but I'm loving it so far. I don't want to say too much in case I spoil anything, but if you're a fan of classic books, I'd highly recommend you check it out.
•Listening: to this playlist on Spotify. I only recently discovered the Spotify 'moods' playlists, and I'm hooked. There's literally a playlist for every genre of music, every emotion you may be feeling. I can't stop listening to this playlist in particular as it includes so many of my favourite artists!
•Wearing: a lipstick by Essence* from their 'come to town' collection in the shade '01 is that you, santa?'. It's a beautiful coral-red shade, which is a perfect Spring transition shade in my opinion. It's quite sheer, but multiple layers can be applied for a more dramatic look. And the best part? It'll only burn €2.89 in your pocket.
•Lighting: the Yankee candle my sister got me for Christmas-'snow in love'. Yankee candles always remind me of Christmas, and it's their Christmas scents that I love the most! My candle collection is an ever-growing one, although they don't last half as long as I wish they would..
•Attempting: to keep organised with my new 2015 diary that I picked up in Tesco at the start of the year. I love cute stationery and the idea of keeping organised is very appealing- whether I'll stick to it or not is another story!
•Watching: any of the BBC masterpiece classics that are available on Netflix. I finished Sense & Sensibility the other day, and I'm not ashamed to say I cried! I've just started watching the four part adaptation of Emma, so I'm excited to see how the story unfolds. Like I said, I don't have a lot for reading lately, so sometimes it's ok to watch the TV show first, right?
What have you been loving lately?

Hey everyone,
Today's post will be quite short and sweet- almost as sweet as the brand I'm going to be discussing today! As I'm sure you all know by now, I'm a bit of a vintage lover. Although my vintage collection isn't as large as I'd like it to be, I love everything about fashion from the past. A while ago I wrote a guide to vintage shopping (which you can read here), but I've recently noticed a lot of online independent vintage shops popping up online too, whether it's Etsy or even Depop! One shop that I've recently been introduced to is BambleVintage- a super cute and quirky vintage Etsy store run by an equally fab Londoner called Soph. Soph created BambleVintage over a year and a half ago, and sells unique vintage items that are equally fun and fabulous.
Above are some of my favourite BambleVintage pieces! The red bow is super cute, as is the star sweater. I could most definitely see myself wearing that over-sized houndstooth coat though! It's monochrome, it's vintage, and it's a coat- three of my most loved things.
Soph has kindly offered 10% off orders over £10, especially for Oh Hey There Rachel readers! Simply enter the code OHHEYTHERERACHEL at the checkout (expires Feb 16).

Hey everyone,
Other than fashion week, there's not one event that us fashionistas enjoy more than awards season. I personally love when awards season comes around- stylish celebs and top notch films, what more could you want? Although the coveted Academy Award might be of more interest to the actors, I much prefer sitting down to watch the Golden Globes. Everything just seems much more relaxed and casual, not to mention Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's brilliant one liners. I'll admit, hearing 'and the winner is..' over and over again for 2 hours can be a bit of a bore, but it's the red carpet looks that I adore. Awards season is, in my opinion, the perfect way to start off the new fashion year. The Golden Globes brought awards season to a booming start on Sunday, and I've pieced together some of the looks that were popular among the stars this season.
It Was All Yellow
Leslie Mann || Naomi Watts || Jenna Dewan-Tatum
I'm not going to lie- yellow isn't one of my favourite colours. That said, it was one of the colours that really stood out to me on the red carpet! Leslie Mann and Naomi Watts took a similar approach to the sunny shade, but Naomi's Bulgari jewellery pushed her Gucci dress on top. But, hands down, Jenna Dewan-Tatum was an all round winner for me. The pastel prettiness, the simple jewellery, the arm candy in the form of Channing Tatum.. Score.
Loving Her Was Red
Allison Williams || Catherine Zeta-Jones || Heidi Klum
Pantone may have named marsala as the colour of the year, but it was definitely red that took the Golden Globes by storm this season. There was at least 8 leading ladies dressed in red this year, but not just any red- a dazzling, rich ruby red. Allison Williams Armani Privè gown and Heidi Klum's Verace number were similar in colour, while Catherine Zeta Jones opted for a deeper shade. Catherine's simple elegance made her a winner in my eyes!
Shine Bright Like A Diamond
Julianne Moore || Reese Witherspoon || Dakota Johnson
It's definitely not award season without some sequins. It's no lie that I'm a fan of a sequin number, and I was delighted to see plenty of glitzy dresses on the red carpet this year! Julianne Moore's Givenchy Haute Couture dress was my ultimate favourite of the sequin squad without doubt- the feather effect and metallic clutch really brought something modern to the look. Reese Witherspoon went for a more subtle look with a Calvin Klein Collection dress, in comparison to Dakota Johnson who went full out bling in Chanel.
All These Little Things
Last but not least, there were a few celebrities that decided to bring something different to the Golden Globes this year, in the form of intricate details. Sienna Miller's Miu Miu dress has become a favourite among fashion bloggers, and it's easy to see why. I adore how her look is so effortless, so bohemian chic. I also loved Emma Stone's Lanvin jumpsuit, as it was definitely a change from the traditional dress (not to mention how glam that over-sized bow is). Lupita Nyong'o ruled the red carpet during awards season last year, and this beautifully detailed dress by Giambattista Valli did not disappoint this year either.

Hey everyone,
I'm so glad it's finally the weekend again! I'm so used to posting on my blog every 2 days, so about 3-4 times a week, but lately I've been so busy that I can barely manage 2 a week (damn school). This outfit was actually shot a few weeks ago, so it was when I was still getting used to my new camera. Myself, my mam and my sister were shopping in the city, so these images were taken at a fleeting moment before the sun set!
In other news, if you follow me on instagram (if you don't.. it's @ohheythererachel!) you might have heard of my upcoming trip to London! I'm super excited as I haven't been in years, and I love it. It's just a 3 day stay to celebrate my birthday, but I'm also hoping to apply for some London Fashion Week invites- wish me luck!

Hey everyone,
Last October whilst in Barcelona, I connected to a wifi hotspot to be bombarded with congratulatory tweets- I had come first place in midough.com's teen blogging competition! The prize was an iPad Mini*, and it was definitely one of the highlights of the year. To win first prize in a competition judged solely on my writing made me truly happy. Since then, I've been downloading (and deleting..) numerous apps. I have an iPhone 5S, but there's certain things I prefer to do on the bigger iPad Mini* screen- like reading books. It's super light weight and I much prefer the size of the regular iPad. Without further ado, here are 3 apps that I've been using and loving recently!;
1. Evernote- a favourite among many bloggers, Evernote is the ultimate list organiser. If you (like me enjoy making lists, then this is the perfect organisation app for you! It allows you to sort your notes into separate 'notebooks'- so I have one for future blog posts ideas, college courses etc. It's quite handy for taking down notes or for those ideas that pop into your head while on the go. free
2. Rookie Photo Editor- I love this app so much that I have it on my phone too! It's my favourite photo editing app without doubt, as the filters are so gorgeous and can really enhance your images. I'm not a fan of the generic Instagram filters, so before paying 89c for Afterlight I decided to give this app a whirl, and it's honestly just as good! free
3. Heads Up!- I'm not really a games fan on phones/tablets, but this is definitely one of the exceptions. I discovered this app at a friend's party, and it's just such good fun, no matter what age you are. It's basically like charades, with different categories. You hold your device above your head, face your friends and you have to guess what word is on the screen, whether it's an animal, accent or famous person! Not only that, but it creates a video of your friends/opponents actions, which is so funny to watch after. 89c
I also have the usual Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr, as well as a few other apps, but the above 3 are the ones I've been returning to a lot lately. I picked up a beautiful mint case with lace print and a little gold bow on eBay for less than €8 (unfortunately I think it's sold out now), and I adore how practically pretty it is!
Recommend me your must have apps below! Do you use any of the apps above?

Hey everyone,
On Friday my family decided to go for a walk around the grounds of Castletown House in Kildare, so naturally I brought my camera along to take outfit pictures. Although I'm still getting to grips with the many functions and settings on my camera, my sister did a pretty good job, don't you think?! Not bad for a 13 year old! The house itself is one of my favourite pieces of architecture so I wanted to capture it's beauty in these shots. I absolutely love the contrast between the burnt orange walls and the pastel blue of my coat.
As school has no started back, it's probably time for me to knuckle down and start focusing on studying- the mocks are in a month! My birthday is the day after exams finish so it will be the only thing getting me through...

Hey everyone,
It's the last weekend of the Christmas holidays before school starts back, so naturally I'm writing blog posts instead of doing the homework due on Monday. With a bag of chili heatwave Doritos by my side and old Gwen Stefani tunes playing in the background, it can't get more chill than this- might as well enjoy the time off before school takes over my life again!
Back to the topic- my post-Christmas sales haul. I know the majority of the country rush out on Stephens day to grab a bargain or two, but in all honesty, the thought never crossed my mind this year. I wanted a chill Christmas, so shopping a few days later suited me much better. I managed to pick up a few goodies regardless!
Lush 'candy mountain' bubble bar & a 'shoot for the stars' bath bomb: I absolutely love Lush bath products. Even though they may be a luxury rather than a necessity, there's something special about a relaxing bath with a colorful bath bomb thrown in. 'Candy mountain' is one of my favourites as it smells like 'snow fairy', and I picked up the bubble bar on a whim. The two of them together cost around €4 thanks to the 50% sale on Christmas products!
Moschino phone case: Moschino are one of my favorite designer brands- I always anticipate seeing their new collections online during fashion week. Seeing as I can't afford one of their items of clothing, I figured €20 (down from around €55) on a phone case would be a worthy investment. It's also super quirky- I'm in love!
Warehouse cocoon coat: Last but not least, this beautiful powder blue coat from Warehouse. I had a voucher for Warehouse from their press day and just had to put the balance to the €65 price tag- down from €110! It's the perfect Winter to Spring transition coat, and coats are one my most loved items of clothing. I don't usually wear too many pastel colours but there's a first for everything!

Post-Christmas Sales Haul
1.03.2015

Hey everyone,
After spending a wonderful New Year's Eve laughing and messing around with my friends, I arrived home today with 4 hours sleep, and it finally hit me that it's 2015 already- just like that. The prospect of a 'new year' is really quite daunting. When I look back at things I wore or said or did this time last year, there are certain things I would never wear/say/do now. Who knows where I'll be this time next year? I'd like to think that I'm in college doing my dream course, and that I'm happy anyways- that's all that really matters!
2014 has been a whirlwind of a year. It certain had it's highs and lows. On a more negative note, my sister finally had her spinal surgery, so my Summer was spent in a hospital room. That said, I went to my first musical festival and hung out in the guest area with some incredibly amazing people that I met online, thanks to a pretty amazing band. I met Channing Tatum and Matt Healy, which definitely made me smile. I made some fabulous new friends, and this little blog continued to grow. I spoke at Ireland's first blogger conference, on the radio and also attended some pretty cool events. I'm truly excited and nervous to see what 2015 will bring. It's my last year in school, so exams will probably take over my life until June. Other than that, who knows what the year will bring!
I've put together a little survey for anyone who wants to fill it out- I'd love to know what kind of posts you enjoy reading here and what you'd like to see more of! You can fill out the survey here if interested: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KWVYSRF
Happy New Year everyone!
