First things first-I am completely and utterly in love with this dress. Knee length, red lace and pretty damn comfortable, it's everything I need in a dress. I wore this look yesterday to the Blog Awards Ireland ceremony, where I was a finalist for Best Youth Blog and Best Fashion Blog. I'm extremely delighted to say that I won Bronze (3rd place) for Best Fashion Blog- crazy! Three years of blogging down, and hopefully many more to come. I posted a little cheesy rant on Instagram earlier (here), so I'll keep my cringe-worthy words over there.

Boohoo were kind enough to gift me this dress as they were sponsoring the fashion category, and my shoes were sent from Korkys. I felt a bit like a character out of Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' music video shooting this look... Shot at one of my favorite locations, Castletown House in Kildare, here's the finished look!

October Wishlist

pointed toe flats // bow tie blouse // lace up heels // floppy hat // mac soft & gentle // zara grey knit // vivienne westwood necklace // leather skirt // mac rebel lipstick // grey belted coat // celine sunglasses

This months wishlist is, again, a combination of high end and high street pieces. Grey, black and burgundy are the three colours I'll be wearing religiously this season- and the Chicwish trench coat is at the top of my list. If money was no option, I'd head straight for the Celine sunnies or Vivienne Westwood necklace, but for now, I'll settle for the equally chic Public Desire heels and H&M leather skirt.

What's on your wishlist this month?

“Is this based on a true story?”, a young woman not-so-quietly whispered to her friend beside me. When I overheard this, a sudden sense of anger rushed through me. Not anger towards the woman, but towards society as a whole. It was that anger that inspired me to write this blog post- a review of the 2015 film, Suffragette, from the perspective of a 17 year old feminist.

Suffragette’ tells the story of a group of working women involved in the Suffragette movement back in 1912. Featuring key figures like Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison, the movie depicts the raw and honest truth about the fight for woman’s rights. When I first saw the trailer a couple of months back, I knew it was something I’d enjoy- what I didn’t realise is that it would inspire me too.

These women fought for what we have today- the right to vote. They were assaulted, threatened, imprisoned, battered and even killed. To think that they went through all that to have their voices heard, to have OUR voices heard, really upset me. When I think back to the last major vote in Ireland, when many of my friends and family “weren’t bothered” to vote, it takes all I have not to clench my teeth and curl my fists. I’m currently below the voting age in Ireland, but I know that when the time comes around, I could never throw away my vote like that, as if it were nothing.

Something that really captured my attention was  a frame at the end of the film, when they displayed a list of countries accompanied by the year women received the vote. The fact that Switzerland only got it in 1974 really shocked me, and also that women in Saudi Arabia are still fighting for it to this day.

As Meryl Streep said as Pankhurst in the film, “never give up the fight”. Although we may have the vote now, this still applies to us in our every day lives. Never give up the fight for equal wages. Never give up the fight for your voice to be heard. Never give up the fight for equality.

So, if you do anything this weekend, go see Suffragette. See it for the thousands of women that died for their rights, and more importantly, see it for those that are still fighting.

I've recently rediscovered my love of makeup, after going through a phase of wearing the same things every day. Whilst browsing Superdrug in the Omni Shopping Centre in Santry, I spotted a Makeup Revolution stand- a popular budget brand among many UK bloggers. I knew I just had to buy something, and I fell in love with this palette instantly!

The palette includes (what I would call) two pressed powders, three contour shades and three highlight shades. Not only are they so so beautiful and perfect for pale skin, but they're also extremely pigmented too, much to my surprise! Without a setting spray they do fade a bit throughout the day, but for just over €10, you really can't go wrong. The packaging is extremely sturdy and it also came in a pretty black and rose gold cardboard box. Makeup Revolution- you've captured this makeup lover's heart!
You can shop the Ultra Contour palette online here.

Considering my college hours are fairly easy going, I really did think I'd have a lot of time free to shoot outfit posts- oh how wrong I was! From societies to socialising, not to mention the commuting, my first few weeks of university life have been pretty hectic. Not only that, but my photographer (aka my 14 year old sister) has been busy too! I'm almost in college a month now so I'm hoping I'll be able to sort out some sort of routine soon..

Autumn is my favorite season without doubt, particularly because of the style and the return of Downton Abbey. Now that I have a job, I've been spending most of my money on food, transport and clothes- I guess I'm just an Autumn dresser! Honestly, I feel way more comfortable in boots and knits than I do in Summer clothes. 90% of my outfit is from Penneys, as I wanted to style a look that was extremely affordable for my fellow students!

Boots- Penneys (€21)
Jacket- Penneys (€14)
Necklace- Penneys (€1)
Bag- Parfois (€44.99)
